Don’t Miss Soccer Aid At Old Trafford This Summer

If you want to stay in a great place to see some of Manchester’s best summer action, a rental property in Salford Quays is a great choice.
Not only is it central and very well connected to the Metrolink, but it is in an area with lots of things going on all year round.
This is particularly true with sport taking place just across the Manchester Ship Canal in Old Trafford. In the summer, when Manchester United are not in action, there is county and international cricket at the ‘other’ Old Trafford.
Come June, the domestic football season will be over, but that doesn’t mean the focus will have switched entirely to the leather and willow, for there is the small matter of Soccer Aid, which takes place at Old Trafford on June 15th.
Played in aid of UNICEF, the game will feature a mixture of former football legends alongside celebrities from other sports, plus celebrities who have made their name in non-sporting fields.
On the one hand, you can see the likes of Wayne Rooney, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes on the stage where they once starred, alongside former Lionesses Jill Scott, Steph Houghton and Toni Duggan.
Olympian Sir Mo Farah and pop star Louis Tomlinson will also feature for an England XI managed by boxing legend Tyson Fury, while the World XI features Italian Euro 2020 winner Leonardo Bonucci, Gladiator Diamond and Strictly star Gorka Morquez.
It should be a great day out and a fun trip to a venue where tickets are often very hard to come by.
The benefits of staying in Salford Quays also mean you have the Lowry Theatre and Art Gallery on your doorstep, while the Imperial War Museum North is also very close via a footbridge over the Manchester Ship Canal.
Visitors staying for a few days can see shows in the Lowry such as Lil Miss Lady by High Rise Entertainment, The Lost Music of Auschwitz, and Salford Dance Explosion 2025.
